All GutterMelt plug-in cable kits and bulk heating cable currently offered by Rocky Mountain Heat Cable carry a 10-year limited manufacturer warranty from Heatizon Systems. Heatizon has approved ten-year coverage for our plug-in kits as well as bulk cable.
Coverage and remedy
Coverage is for defects in materials and workmanship. Heatizon determines whether a covered defective part will be repaired or replaced. Under the manufacturer’s written warranty, the warranty period begins on shipment by Heatizon. The 2017 GutterMelt SR manual, page 19, gives the heating element ten years and activation devices one year. Controls and activation devices are separate from the ten-year cable coverage; confirm the warranty supplied with the selected device. Installation workmanship coverage follows the written installation agreement.
Installation and registration requirements
Products must be selected, installed and operated according to Heatizon instructions and applicable codes, remain in their original installed location, and use the correct power supply. Misuse, damage, unauthorized changes or repairs, and incompatible components can invalidate coverage. Complete and return Heatizon’s warranty registration within 90 days of sale. Keep your purchase record and installation test readings.
What is excluded
The manufacturer warranty excludes installer workmanship, failures caused by improper use or maintenance, unauthorized alterations, and systems incorporating components not purchased from Heatizon. Removal and reinstallation labor, transportation to and from Heatizon, and other materials needed for a repair or exchange are not covered. This is a limited product warranty, not insurance against ice dams or property damage.
How to request warranty service
Contact Heatizon before shipping any product to obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) and next-step instructions. Have the purchase date and seller, installation date, installer contact information, cable serial number and completed resistance-test record available. Claims must be submitted in writing with the warranted component as instructed, no later than one month after the warranty period expires.
